Blueberry Vanilla Matcha Latte

Ingredients:

  • 100 g fresh blueberries
  • 1-2 bamboo spoons (chashaku) matcha
  • 50 ml hot water
  • 200 ml milk of your choice (e.g. cow's milk, almond milk, oat milk)
  • 1-2 tsp vanilla syrup
  • Ice cubes

Preparation:

1. Puree blueberries:

  • Wash the fresh blueberries thoroughly.
  • Puree the blueberries with a blender or hand blender until smooth.
  • Optional: Strain the blueberry puree through a fine sieve to remove the seeds.

2. Prepare Matcha:

  • Put 1-2 bamboo spoons of matcha into a bowl.
  • Heat 50 ml of water to about 80°C (not boiling) and pour it over the matcha.
  • Whisk the matcha with a bamboo whisk (chasen) until it reaches a fine, foamy consistency.

3. Prepare the drink:

  • Fill a glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour the blueberry puree over the ice cubes.
  • Add the vanilla syrup and stir well.
  • Pour the foamed matcha over the blueberry puree.
  • Fill the glass with the milk and stir gently to slightly combine the layers.

4. Serve and enjoy:

  • Garnish the drink as desired with a few fresh blueberries or a pinch of matcha powder.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!
