Willkommen in der Welt des Atmens

Welcome to the world of breathing

Breathing is one of the most basic functions of our lives—so natural, yet often overlooked. It doesn't take much to harness its power, just a little of your time and attention. Breathing liberates, centers you, and gives you the opportunity to feel yourself more intensely.

Perhaps you'd like to consciously observe yourself in everyday life: How does your breathing react to certain situations? When you yawn, sigh, or snort, these are often your body's unconscious responses to internal or external stimuli. Breathing is a key to self-regulation—a tool we often use unconsciously, but can also use purposefully.

With breathwork, you go one step further. In guided sessions, you learn to expose yourself to controlled, targeted stressful situations. This trains your body and mind to respond better and more consciously, even in real stressful situations. It's a practice that makes you more resilient and allows you to maintain your inner balance even in difficult moments.

But sometimes it's the smaller adjustments that make a big difference. I'd like to introduce one of them to you now:

Mouthtaping: Discover the power of nasal breathing

Mouth taping is a simple and effective method that supports natural nasal breathing. A small piece of gentle, skin-friendly tape is applied over the lips to keep the mouth closed while sleeping. It may seem unusual at first, but the benefits are astonishing.

Why nasal breathing is so important:

The nose is our primary respiratory organ. It filters, warms, and humidifies the air before it enters our lungs. Mouth breathing, on the other hand, can lead to problems like dry mouth, poor sleep, or even increased stress. By breathing through the nose, we utilize our body's natural protective function and promote our health.

The advantages of mouthtaping:

  1. Better sleep quality:

    • Nasal breathing promotes deeper and more regular breathing. This can help reduce snoring and apnea and improve oxygen supply to the body.
  2. Strengthening the nervous system:

    • Nasal breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, the part of the nervous system responsible for relaxation and regeneration. This helps reduce stress and promote deeper sleep.
  3. Improved oral health:

    • Mouth breathing dries out the mucous membranes and increases the risk of tooth decay and gum problems. Mouth taping keeps the mouth closed, thus supporting natural moisture regulation.
  4. Optimized oxygen uptake:

    • Nasal breathing increases nitric oxide production, which plays a key role in dilating blood vessels and improving oxygen supply.
  5. Less morning exhaustion:

    • Many people report more energy and less fatigue because nasal breathing contributes to a more restful night.

How to start mouthtaping:

  • Choose a gentle tape: Use a special, hypoallergenic tape (e.g., medical tape) that is easy to remove and does not irritate the skin.
  • Start small: Stick a small piece of tape across your lips or just in the middle to get used to it slowly.
  • Pay attention to your well-being: If you feel unwell or have health problems such as nasal congestion, consult a doctor beforehand.

Your journey to better breathing begins with small steps. Whether through conscious observation, breathwork, or trying mouth taping – each method brings you closer to a better understanding and a deeper connection with your body. Make breathing your tool for greater well-being and balance in your everyday life.
